What is what3words?

Because a number of people have expressed concern about the fact that Emergency services have trouble locating houses in remote or difficult to find places we have been in discussion with SE Coast Ambulance Service and can confirm that they, together with Surrey Police, are using the What3Words positioning system to locate properties.

SECAmb are encouraging everyone to familiarise themselves with their property’s What3Words address.

What3Words is a really simple way to talk about location and its use has already saved many lives.

Each 3m square in the world has been assigned a unique 3 word address that will never change.

For example songbook.headlight.class marks the exact entrance to The Winn Hall in Dunsfold.

Have a look at their website at  http://www.what3words.com and use the interactive map to find an address for a 3M square within your property.

Community Speedwatch

Residents will be pleased to learn that it is planned to reintroduce Village Speedwatch for the village next year. There are already number of much-appreciated and willing volunteers who have previous experience, but more are required to spread the load. Training is required to be provided for all volunteers, past and present, which is expected to occur locally early next year, together with an updated roads survey by Surrey Police for suitable and approved locations from which to conduct Speedwatch activity.

If you wish to put your name forward, please write an email with your name and contact details to Cllr. James Field at james.field@dunsfoldparishcouncil.gov.uk

Road Resurfacing Work Commencing on Monday 14th October

As you are no doubt aware, the Parish Council are currently carrying out a programme of works to resurface foot paths and roads around the village centre. The road around the shop is being resurfaced over 2 days on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th October and needs to be clear of all parked cars between 8am – 5pm each day.

The village car park will be available but please note that there is no parking on the common or verges. Whilst we appreciate that it may be busy due to the fact that Thames Water are also carrying out works to their network as bad weather has delayed their programme, we would appreciate your patience as these works will ultimately benefit us all.

Welcome to our new website.

Welcome to our new website. We hope you find it useful as a tool to keep you updated with all the work the Council is involved with. All our Council meetings are open to the public and dates can be found on the events calendar. It’s always good to see members of the public at our monthly meetings which gives you an opportunity to discuss any village matters. You can also do this more informally at the Saturday surgeries which are listed on the calendar. The past 3 years of meeting minutes and agendas are available to view.
